Optimum solution for RPC over HTTP implementation -> Need guidance
Hello Forum users, I have a cust. who is looking for an optimum solution regarding RPC over HTTP implementation . I need guidance in order to advice. His environment consists of : Exchange server 2003 SP 2 back - end / front - end σε Windows 2003 Enterprise Server SP 2 and OWA published through ISA 2004. Any references or advises will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance for your time Rgds, Nick

What exactly do you want to know? What do you mean by optimum solution? RPC over HTTPS is just a connection method. Publish it through your ISA server with a commercial certificate and that is all there is to it. Otherwise you are going to have to provide a lot more information as to what you are expecting to get from posting. Simon.Simon Butler, Exchange MVP Blog | Exchange Resources

Hi Nick, The Exchange Server 2003 RPC over HTTP Deployment Scenarios guide contains background information about RPC over HTTP. The guide also contains detailed instructions about how to correctly configure RPC over HTTP. To obtain this guide, visit the following Microsoft Web site: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=47577 Gen Lin TechNet Subscriber Support in forum If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tngfb@microsoft.com Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Thanks Gen for your time and response. I have already suggested them to check out the Ms Exchange 2003 RPC over HTTP Deployment Scenarios guide, available at: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyId=F7D2D6E5-579F-4779-A6B8-7EF931EC02A5&displaylang=en (written by Exchange Server Documentation Team). As you correctly mention, this guide provides technical info about RPC over HTTP process, its interactions on Client, proxy and back-end servers, configuration/deployment guidance and examples. Reference: How to configure RPC over HTTP in Exchange 2003 -> http://support.microsoft.com/kb/833401/en-us I have also provided them with other references, such as: TechNet article about RPC over HTTP deployment Scenarios -> http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa998950(EXCHG.65).aspx Microsoft Blog Posting for RPC over HTTP on Exchange 2003 -> http://blogs.microsoft.co.il/blogs/dand/archive/2009/07/22/configure-rpc-over-http-exchange-2003.aspx MSDN Article about RPC over HTTP deployment recommendations -> http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/Aa378641 MSDN article about RPC over HTTP security -> http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/Aa378642 How to configure ISA (2004/2006/TMG) to for allow RPC over HTTP client connections from Outlook to Exchange 2003 -> http://support.microsoft.com/kb/884506/en-us Configuring Outlook 2003 for RPC over HTTP -> http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/office-2003-resource-kit/configuring-outlook-2003-for-rpc-over-http-HA001140273.aspx But customer has already read this doc… Actually they need to implement RPC over HTTP inside their organization upon their high level management request, and they are trying to create a step by step SOW (Statement of Work) for testing and implementation and they are looking for references or the best resource (documentation) to rely on.. Hoping now it is more clear. Thanks & Regards, Nick
